Socialism:Charity
In a free state, it would be ideal if only those who want to and are able pay for helping out those less fortuanate would. Instead of taxes covering social charity type programs, donations will. Donations will be given to government run charities. The government charities will be very similar to free market charities; they will be set up to utilize money to improve a specific problem. People will be able to pick and choose which charities they would like to donate to based on the problems they want to fix, just like with free market charities.
Socialisms-buying government services
Government based socialism under an efficient and well designed government could dramatically lower poverty levels. However, in a free state, those who do not partake in social benefits should not have to pay for them. If someone wants to live in the woods, never working, providing their needs themselves, they will be recieving no government benifits, and thus should not have to pay anything. If someone wants to use government roads, court systems, and other benefits, they should have to pay for them. If someone wants to recieve assistance in living because of poverty, they should have to ‘pay’ for it as well (not monetarily, obviously, since they have no money). This system will have government controlled programs, but will also leave open a door (often a very wide one) for privately owned programs to be run (for many, but not all, of the programs; for example, handling of roads particularly planning the routes and rules, will be handled only by the government, as the space involved in making road systems is too great, and it would just be very confusing, to have multiple systems). Checks must be instituted to prevent favoring of government programs over private (a big challenge).
I will create several articles based on this idea of buying services from the government.
Socialism:Welfare
A welfare program that would allow those not recieving the benifits to not need to lose out significantly:
Those who make too little money to support themselves with bare living essentials, or those who just like the simplicity of the program, will be given the option to enter the welfare program. This program will allow them to improve their standards of living to having the bare essentials plus a certain level of extra income. However, this will not be provided by regular monetary compensation. Instead, the folk will be given jobs, jobs at government facilities. The government facilities will produce items the government deems necessary to improve the standard of living of the nation: as an example, medicine production, education, and road construction and maintenance. As these jobs will be provided to them, they will lose some of their freedom that those not partaking will be left with; they will be assigned to jobs where they are needed rather than where they want to or feel comfortable working (as an example, if someone has aspirations of working in restaurants, but the government has no need for restaurant workers, that person will have to work elsewhere, where the government needs them. Also, if someone has skills in steel production and wants to make a healthy living producing steel, but was laid off, and the government can’t use those skills, that person will have to learn new skills. The government will pay attention to peoples skills and wants though, and provide when possible).
Bare essentials will not be provided through monetary compensation, but rather directly. Housing will be provided in efficient government apartment complexes. Food will be provided through meal plans at a government cafeteria. Transportation will be on government busses. Clothing and other near-essentials will be provided from government facilities or purchased from free market facilities, depending on which the government feels will be better (if there are enough people to fill jobs making government clothes, then the facilities will be government run. If there is too little, then some or all clothing will be purchase elsewhere). Healthcare and basic and job specific education will be provided. The workers’ labors will provide for the needs of other workers in the program so that all needs are met by all members, as in a near self-sufficient commune. The facilities will be put into operation with the help of government funds from the social system given by others (government run ‘charities’ will collect money from those who want to help the impoverished). They will then not only provide products to the members of the welfare program, but to the free market, in which they will provide income to the government for continuing the program as well as other areas of social provision.
The folk will also recieve monetary compensation to put them above and beyond the bare essentials. They will recieve a small stipend, if the program can afford it, for their own personal purchases from the free market. They will also, more importantly, have a stipend put into an interest bearing account. This stipend would be there merely for allowing the folk to save up enough money to break out of the welfare system and reenter the free market. If they never leave the system, the money will be used to finance bare essentials for their retirement.
heating device
heating device for heating water, air
water-on demand water heating-will fire up when hot water drawn through
-70°F raise @ 2+ gpm
air-radiated heat will heat air through floor
-steam radiating tubes ran throughout floor, insulated below
-thermostats in each room send signals to control unit, opening valves to desired level for heating pars in each room [ex. turn up heat in bathroom to take shower: device produces more heat, valve opened more for bathroom (if valve max opened, all other valves close some)]
-always on method- heat output = heat loss continuosly
-outside temp monitor compared to desired inside temp and estimated insulation of house/loss through air ventilation system to calculate needed heat output, adjusted automatically as temperatures move away from desired levels (heat loss = loss through inulation + loss through ventilation + adjustment value).
-stainless steel construction allows to prevent rust from condensation of combustion, thus allowing it to not need to run at higher temperatures to prevent condensation like conventional furnaces do.
burners variable heat output from near zero to 70°F raise for water at 2 gpm and 70°F raise for air throughout house at same time.
burners run continuously to make up for heat loss in winter, fire up further to fill water heat needs when water run.
in summer, turns off until water run. pilotless-electic ignition

First Post
My first yars posting. Anything before this is just yarstory. Monday, we played a show at the ECC, where we’ve played twice before. The first time there was a lot of people, but this time, like last time, there were only a handful. They seemed to like us somewhat, but not enough to stay for the whole show. We weren’t on for this show like we were at the last one (at Europe Gyro, our best show to date), and I was fairly well off. We didn’t do that great, though the Henchman and some others said that it was a good show.
Today, we were supposed to play a show at the university for the homecoming thing, but our time slot was cancelled: the library doesn’t wan’t bands on after 2:00. I think that’s way early of a cutoff for letting students study (who studies in the mid-afternoon anyway) but we can’t do anything about it. Dwight tried vigorously to get a show set up before 2:00, with other bands moving their slots a bit to make room for a short set by us, but that didn’t work. He even called President Cartwright at 2:00 AM to tell her of our problem. Because of Dwights complaining, we will get paid for the gig even though we didn’t play. We made 12.5 times more with this one gig that we didn’t play than with all our previous gigs combined. It’s nice to get money in finally, though as a business we are well in debt to our personal accounts right now. This money’ll pay for one of our recording sessions. The ACPB is also going to get us another show sometime. A show in front of the KSU student center would be great for exposure, with all the students walking by, so hopefully we’ll get one.
I’ll post more when it happens. This’ll be the place for Yars news in the future. Toodles.
Info Storage
to user, related information given togethor, but is really stored in most efficient means possible, best balance of factors such as access time (search, sort, etc), modification time (change data and append), new item time, storage space, number of accesses to storage media.
all instances of data in any format should be able to be looked at from ‘finder’ level and relatable
redundant and inconsistant data can be eliminated using spare cpu time during idle time
relatable in hierarchial type view, getting more specifically related as go deeper in hierarchy, very generally related near top.
search time reduced using hierarchy by eliminating items in unrelated branches: searching for a friend named Amy would search through a friends subdir before/instead of business partner dir.
on love
I don’t much like love. Love seems to be something not that is real and exists, but a feeling created by our minds to encompass several human needs in a single want: a physical need for sex and for contact; a mental need for someone to share things with, a person to do this with like no other; social needs, both in a need for a person to socialize with a lot and a person that you being with makes you fit into society better by being in a relationship, just as so many others are and so many books and movies says is the end of all means; some others that I forget at the moment.
NA Valley
Sorry for the long delay between posts. A lot has happened since my last. I have my full fledged site hosted from my ibook, but that only worked when I had a high speed connection. Now its gone (bye-bye SBC, I’ll probably never come back to you), and won’t be reinstated till I move to a new place (hopefully soon). Then my full fledged, self served site will be back up.
My last year of classes is now over and done with. It was a little bit of a challenging year, since I didn’t much feel like being in school, but I made it through still maintaining my close to 4.0 status (I did get my second B though in Business Writing). There were also some classes that I liked, like my programming and biology classes, that helped me through. My memory of the school year is already a bit fuzzy though, partly due to my very bad memory. I also was focused on conversations with Krista there for a while. I’m still the same quiet person with few friends on campus.
I still live with Dwight Henson in NA Valley. I like it there. It’s quite cheap, very spacious, a nice place, and good neighbors. It also isn’t too far from campus, and I was able to bike to school every day that my bike was able (there was a big ordeal with the cold and water causing my freewheel to not turn the rear wheel on particularly cold days or any snowy days), and got an estimated 6 to 12 miles in each school day, which kept me somewhat in shape.
Soon though, I shall be moving to a nice mobile home. It’s a step above an apartment or rented house because I own the facility, but much cheaper than an actual house. I will be very happy to be able to do with the place as I please. I’d like to start with installing some appliances and stuff, perhaps a composting toilet and tankless water heater, and maybe, if I stay long enough, move on to install more insulation, my specially designed bathroom, and other such plans I have made for my ideal house. It’ll be awesome.
Went on GOBA again this year. We formed Team Us, a team of people known by my brother. There were six of us: Me, Jamie, my cousin Paul, and Jamie’s friends Max Monegan, Seffrey Brenneman, and Lindsey. Lindsey drove the truck and didn’t ride. It was kinda cool: we had a big tent plus a small tent, as well as a netted sun shade thing that we played cards in, and everyone else’s stuff got transported in Lindsey’s truck, while I, the packer, didn’t have to have a tent since I shared the big one (though I carried a tarp just in case and to make up for it). The trip was generally fun, though I found myself getting tired after 30 or so miles. One day, I accidently left my helmet in Lindsey’s truck, and since they don’t like you riding without one, I decided to take an alternative route where no one would see me. I had a map, but a big hunk of my route wasn’t on it. I ended up doing the whole riding in what should be the general direction of my destination. I eventually made it there, after a long tiring ride through mostly the country but also some city riding and some scary riding on the highway twice. The highway helped me there though, as it went straight to my destination town. I succeeded in going it cheaper than last year, taking grape nuts for my breakfast to alleviate that cost in addition to my peanut butter sandwich (no bagels this year, bread seems better) lunches. Generally a cool trip, though I didn’t like it as much as the first two for some reason. The price is getting to me: I could really ride myself anywhere and have a more personalized ride, though some of the stuff would be more troublesome, and it wouldn’t be as cool in some ways.
My band has been making progress. Our once new bass player, Rockwood, has now been with us for over a year and has fit in very well. Now with a bass player we sound much more full, and Rockwood helps with the singing as well. The Possum has changed its name to the Yars, after the video game Yars Revenge. We’ve played several parties at Rockwood’s house (our first several shows with the Yars) and had at least several people like our stuff. We met Dusty at one, whom we signed on as lead singer. He was a good singer, with a good, interesting voice and a way with the audience. After he came on we did a couple more parties and did another recording. But him and Dwight got in a fight and were both stubborn: Dusty wanted new stuff while Dwight wanted to continue on with the songs he’d already written, since he has about 90 that he considers decent to really good that haven’t been gotten out at all or much to the public. Dusty left and put Rockwood and Dwight back into the singing positions in the band. After that, we got several gigs at actual venues, all free shows except for one, at which we got $3. We are working are way towards real payed gigs and a fan base. We have about 2 or so shows a month right now.
At the Lizard, I’ve been pizza cook for over a year now and have been removed from busser duty (I only every once in a while, less than once a month, pick up shifts for bussers). Now I am about to start an internship there, the last thing I have to do to finally finish my degree. With this internship, I hope to learn the rest of the cooking stations and, more importantly, learn a lot of the office and management related things. I will need these skills a lot when I open up the Tipsy Skunk. Right now I can say no more classes, but until I’m done with the internship, I can’t really say I’m done with school. Soon enough though.
